Does your car need a service?
Many modern cars only require a service once a year, but older, high performance and high mileage vehicles may require one more frequently. The manufacturer’s service handbook will establish what is most suitable for your car. The type of service you need will also be affected by how you use your car and the nature of its performance.
High performance cars frequently need short service intervals to keep them in peak condition. Similarly, vehicles that are used solely for short journeys, where the engine does not have a chance to warm up properly, will probably require more frequent oil and filter changes.
A good garage mechanic will always be happy to discuss the particular needs of your car and give recommendations.
Keeping a Good Service Record
If your vehicle service logbook is kept up to date you can easily look up your last service details, which will show not only the date it was carried out, but equally as importantly how many miles you have covered since that time. Regularly maintained vehicles rarely fail MOT tests and frequently expensive bills only result from inaction when a fault was less costly to put right.
We know that most people rarely look at service histories until they are selling a vehicle, for that reason we put a ‘last service’ sticker on your engine whenever we complete the job, it is a clear reminder every time you lift the bonnet.
Finally, good service history vehicles are always easier to find buyers for, so it pays to keep information up to date.
